Dentist's Surgery
1976
From the office of the exuberant Rodney Fitch. Purportedly designed to emulate teeth. The GRP and mirrorglass forms were no doubt superfly in 1976, but aged badly and suffered worse when someone took a paintbrush to the vintage cream-beige original. Working early in his career with Terence Conran, Fitch was best known as a retail designer and made his name in the 1980s, with clients like Debenhams and Topshop. The most substantial work with which he is credited was the interior of Heathrow's Terminal 4. Demolished c.2016. The firm also designed the nearby Vanessa Nursery School, in Shepherd's Bush, also in GRP.
