Cutlers Hotel
1964
Tucked out of the way in Sheffield city centre, the Cutlers Hotel references the orginal client, a metalworkers' guild in its name. It's facade adopts a modern take on medieval style with pronounced 'T' shaped concrete structural elements divided by zinc clad steel mullions. The stained glass windows and flags afford something of a heraldic vibe about the building and its pseudo-historicism is amplified by being situated in such a small courtyard. J. Mansell Jenkinson FRIBA, who died in 1965, was in partnership for many years with F. W. Chapman at offices in Norfolk Row.
