Sculpture
1968
One of a series of sculptures constructed from readymade precast uints to the designs of Peter Yates as part of Ryder and Yates' comprehensive development of the Kenton Bar estate. Other versions of it are variously composed and some are lost, including the one that stood next to the renowned Kenton Bar Pyramid. Whilst playful, these forms are very much within the ouevre of Ryder and Yates, who drew on ancient and mythological sources as abstracted forms and used them as powerful accents in theuir schemes - the minotaur references at Norgas House in Killingworth being another such example.
