Marketing Suite

This cigar tube of a building was orignially the marketing suite for the Boxworks development by Urban Splash in Castlefield. Castlefield Basin has been integral to the growth of the idea of inner city living in Manchester; it was here that Urban Splash really began to make their mark for innovation and quality. The practice Arkheion emerged from the architectural services of Splash and became a firm in its own right, responsible for both Britannia Mills and the Boxworks here. Development is still underway in the district, though few plots now remain; most is of reasonable quality, by recognised firms and worth further inspection. This object has more than a hint of Will Alsop’s Cardiff Bay Visitor Centre about it and is rumoured to have been a temporary structure, but has become something of a landmark next to the ring road.
